San Diego Botanic Garden

A great amount of people who attend the Garden for the very first time. The usual answer is a nice gift or indeed a garden surprise to present. For many people, the previous title "Quail Botanical Gardens" was all they had learned before visiting - sadly, it did not set a high standard of expected, and the word "Quail Gardens" brought a bit of mixed feelings. An essential factor for modifying the title is the confidence that prospective guests will anticipate more and therefore are more willing to attend a public garden named "San Diego Botanical Garden".

The name San Diego Botanical Garden establishes a greater expectation and awareness of significance. These are also important questions for donor planting and grant applications.

But for all of us who are familiar with the garden as the Quail Botanical Garden, it does not make a difference. Discover our gardens, experience the tranquility of the species, the blossoming flowering trees, the magnificent palm forests and the country's biggest bamboo garden collection. Because of its soft climate, the garden is home to plants from across the globe. Our varying terrain offers a diversity of microclimates, providing a sense of transition from desert to rainforest, all within 35 acres.

Situated 30 minutes north of San Diego in Encinitas, California, the San Diego Botanical Gardens offers a variety of displays, such as sparse bamboo gardens, desert parks, rainforest, local Californian plants, Mediterranean temperate environments, lush gardens, grassy gardens, fireproof zones, subregional fruit orchards and local seaside salvia. In June 2009, we launched the Hamilton Kindergarten, the biggest interactive kindergarten on the West Coast.
