Description

La Purisima State Historical Park is available from 9 am to 5 pm, all days long, with the exception of the National Day of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year. The whole year park welcomes its guests for sightseeing, excursions, walks, school programs, live historical occasions, weddings and much other activities.

Free excursions are available at 13:00, from Wednesday to Sunday and on public holidays Mondays. The excursion starts at the Visitors Center, allowing tour guides to walk you around historic buildings, coming alive with stories of missionary life and the men who used to stay here. The tour lasts 1 ½ hour and goes about 1 mile through the countryside, staircases, and doors.

Self-managed excursion maps can be provided for $1 at the entry point, visitor center, and souvenir store. The cost of parking is $6 per car.

Since March to October, on chosen days, Living History Activities give an idea of what life was like for the Mission in the 1820s. Costume associate professors and personnel conduct shows and practical exercises, which may involve candlework, blacksmithing, grinding corn, making bread or braiding.

La Purisima’s mission is indeed a necessary place for history lovers and those who are seeking a peaceful and exciting spot to learn. The best totally renovated and equipped of the 21 missions in California, La Purisima is also a California state park with 25 miles of walking routes to discover.
