The European-style gardenVizcaya is one of the most beautiful gardens in the United States. The general landscape project recalls the gardens created in Italy and France in the 17th and 18th centuries, conceived as a series of rooms. The central space is dominated by low hedges or geometrically arranged flower beds. In addition, there are secret gardens, private theater gardens, playful labyrinthine gardens and gardens with fountains where the water flowed. On both sides of this design landscape, James Deering has preserved the original forest.
Vizcaya’s main building has timeless Mediterranean-style architecture and collections from Pompeii in the early 20th century, was built between 1914 and 1922 and is an emerging gem in Miami. A century later, Vizcaya is just as important. A cultural destination visited by thousands of tourists from around the world every year, it is a hub for locals who want to learn, develop and connect in “Miami House”.
Definition of the cultural landscape of Miami Most of us are familiar with the beautiful houses and gardens of Vizkaya Bay. This beautiful place has defined Miami’s cultural landscape for over 100 years. However, right across the little-known South Miami Avenue, there’s a particularly captivating part of our community’s history, waiting for its discovery. Today, we launched a restoration plan for Vizcaya Village to create a vibrant new plan for everyone to enjoy in Miami-Dade County.
