Inspired by Edith Wharton’s passion and achievements, the mountain is both a historic monument and a cultural center. The Wharton School of Business designed a 3-acre formal garden in the hotel, surrounded by a large forest. Courses offered by Mount can reflect literature and art, interior design and decoration, garden and landscape design, and the art of life that the Wharton School of Business is interested in. The Wharton School of Business also hosts an annual exhibit on Wharton’s life and work.
The garden should be an integral part of the building like a house. She believed the gardenwas a series of elegant outdoor rooms that were in harmony with the house and the surrounding natural landscape. Today, you can experience many gardens designed by the Wharton School of Business.
Wharton’s granddaughter, Beatrix Jones Flanders, just started her exceptional career as a designer of the Garden of Eden when Edith Wharton built Mount’s Garden and provides drawings of a large garden.
