Rockwood Park, Bringhurst Woods Park and Bellevue State Park are a row of interconnected gardens located northeast of Wilmington that are great for jogging. They join together on a 2.5-mile stretch of the Delaware North Greenway Trail that stretches from Brandywine Park to Fox Point State Park.
Rockwood Park features paved paths surrounding the site of a 19th century Gothic mansion (guided tours possible). One trail is ~1 mile long. Drive east on the Greenway Trail for 0.7 miles through the densely forested Bringhurst Woods Park and cross Highway 3 into Bellevue State Park. This park, formerly the property of the du Pont family, offers many hiking paths, tennis fields, a fishing pond, stables and much more. There is also a lovely, broad gym track that is 1.1 miles long.
Add-Ons: The Greenway Trail runs along the eastern side of Bellevue Park for 0.6 miles to I-495. Or, west of Rockwood Park, the Greenway Trail continues for 1 mile to our route to Alapocas State Park and Brandywine Park. Another addition west of Rockwood Park is the Matson Run Parkway, a green road with nice walkways and beautiful homes that stretches 0.7 miles from Haynes Park to the Delaware Music School.
