The Riverside is home to over 2,000 magnificent and fascinating animals, making it one of the most beautiful and inspiring botanical gardens in the country. 170 acres of lush grounds include dynamic displays of natural habitats, beautiful river views, magnificent valley views, and important historical landmarks. For more than 30 years, Riverbanks has provided individuals, families and groups with places to learn and interact with the world’s wildlife.
Riverbanks has twice won the Governor’s Cup and is South Carolina’s premier tourist destination. It’s a great place for families in the Southeast for education and recreation. Riverbank Zoo not only protects rare and endangered wildlife, but also maintains historical Civil War memorabilia in zoos on both banks of the river.
In the riverside botanical garden, beautiful flowers, rich colors and unusual plant structures are constantly growing. The Riverbank Botanical Garden was named “Top Ten Inspirational Gardens” by Horticulture Magazine and was named “Top 20 Public Gardens in America” by HGTV. It has unparalleled views over a vast 70 acre land.
This spectacular themed garden displays more than 4,200 native and exotic plants, is a classroom for gardeners and non-gardeners and is an ideal venue for weddings and special events.
Riverbank Zoo has bred more than 2,000 animals from around the world, involving more than 350 species. Whether you’re diving the Pacific reefs, safari expeditions to the African plains or outings with a group of sociable Loriquito, the zoo offers a variety of wild adventures. The zoo is very interesting. See the exhibition for details.
