The garden utopia “Pearl Flyer Topiary Garden” is located in the residential area of Bishopville, a rural town with a population of 3238, approximately 100 miles from Myrtle Beach. Visitors to this particular landscape may think of the western “truffle tree” which is a living sculpture. Thousands of yaupon holi dwarfs, Hollywood juniper, Leyland Cypress and Pine Wind twisted and flew into the lush, lush wonderland of fantasy.
When Pearl Flyer moved to Bishopville in 1976, the three acres surrounding her suburban ranch-style home consisted of flat, barren cornfields. In the early 1980s she started planting and pruning trees and shrubs. Since the early 1980s, trees and shrubs have been planted and pruned and after 20 and a half years of relentless effort, it has been transformed into a world famous flower garden, attracting 5,000 people every year.
