NBW was chosen to design a general layout for the Mount Cuba Center, a beautiful organic botanical garden with remaining forested areas spread across more than 1,000 acres in Delaware, where its goal is to encourage connoisseurs of native vegetation in the Eastern Piedmont area. Preservation and maintenance and learning are at the cutting edge of Mount Cuba’s goal to inspire connoisseurs of native plants in the East Piedmont region.
Beginning with an in-depth site survey, NBW has created project concepts that will expand the expertise of Mount Cuba’s gardens while maintaining their substantial nature. The objectives of the overall general layout incorporate the controllable inclusion of the facility’s environmental zones; better vehicular and pedestrian traffic; better accommodation conditions for visitors; enhanced program coverage; better institutional effectiveness; improved storm runoff control policies; enhanced ecosystem services; and a dedication to the use of alternative and renewable sources of power.
Currently, the first phase is underway, which consists of designing available trails across officially owned gardens, rehabilitating historic walkways, providing entrance for the guest, providing parking and ticketing facilities, as well as local crop cultivation sites, comprising a new head compound and greenhouse.
