Description

In the afternoon experience the desert oasis, tropical jungle, garden, etc. One of the most unique places in Milwaukee, the Mitchell Park Gardening Greenhouse is called the Dome. You can walk among cacti, succulents, bushes, desert palms, etc. In the Desert Dome, hold five seasonal shows per year in the Flower Show Dome and watch 1,200 tropical rainforest plants in the Tropical Dome. These domes are open every day of the year and also host special events and educational programs. Some facilities are also suitable for wheelchair users.

These domes represent the charm of the innovative structural systems of the 1950s and 1960s and the modern design of the space age. The “tropical dome” represents the rich vegetation and hot, humid climate of the tropical rainforest. It is home to 20 bird species. There are also lizards and toads that can control the number of insects. The desert dome displays desert and arid plants, and the flower show dome displays a variety of flowers with themes such as seasons, history, ethnicity, and fantasy.
