Gateway Walk is not around the corner from Charleston. Rather, it’s a casual stroll through the cemeteries and gardens of the most iconic parts of the holy city.
But this is like a secret. Join the Gateway Trail and you’ll feel like you’ve walked through the secret courtyard of this beautiful city. Gateway Walk is completely open and welcomes the general public, but it makes you feel like you are looking at something you shouldn’t see. One of the most interesting, surprising, and unknown ways to visit Charleston’s famous sights.
This trail was designed by the Charleston Garden Club in 1930 and is still along the way. The name derives from the many wrought iron gates that tourists pass along the way. There is a map you can print on the Charleston Garden Club website.
