The Dow Garden was built in 1899 and is the home of the Herbert H. Dow and Grace A. Dow families. Today it covers an area of 110 acres. The garden has received more than 175,000 guests every year. Guests can take a walk along the trail, explore the uniquely designed landscape, visit the historic pine tree house, participate in many hands-on educational programs and enjoy art and music in a relaxing atmosphere and then have fun. The Dow Gardens include Manor Gardens, Discovery Gardens and Waiting Forest. Whiting Forest is four stories high, allowing you to walk the longest trail in the United States.
