Colonial Park in Franklin Township offers a variety of special activities for park visitors. The 685-acre property was purchased in 1965 and is located in a scenic area, facing the historic Delaware and Raritan canals and the Millstone River. Extensive lawns and ponds are dotted with recreational facilities, award-winning gardens and pristine natural landscapes. Spooky Brook Golf Course in Colonial Park is an 18-hole championship course with an open layout with wide fairways and greens.
Colonial Park has two picnic areas, which can be booked by groups of 20 or more. The Nobu Hill Pavilion picnic area seats 150 people and is within walking distance of the park’s main passage, adjacent to the newly built playground and other family entertainment facilities. The Pine Forest Pavilion can accommodate up to 100 people and is adjacent to a softball court. You can also easily use picnic tables and barbecues in the park. Morgan Pellowski’s playground features innovative barrier-free outdoor play equipment.
Exercise and exercise opportunities for life
The 1.4-mile fitness park is on a paved road, where you can walk, jog, and cycle. The New Jersey Department of Fisheries, Game and Wildlife supplies these three ponds every year, making them the best fishing spots for anglers of all ages. The softball court is reserved for those wishing to participate in leagues, tournaments and shuttle games. Lois How Nature Trail preserves the remains of oak, hickory and beech woodlands that were once characteristic of the area. There is a main path and a few small branch paths that lead to various areas of flora and fauna. In winter, if the weather permits, it is possible to practice skating and cross-country skiing with supervision.
