The design and construction of Boothbay Harbor’s Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens took 16 years. It may take a day to explore all the beautiful greenery, walks, and art sculptures that make up the 250-acre garden and grounds. The Maine Botanical Garden ranges from well-kept formal gardens, waterfalls, and spectacular stone structures to 1.6 kilometers of walks under the natural canopy. Plant lovers and botanists can enjoy identifying thousands of herbs, flowers and plants, and children love the experience in the new children’s garden.
The botanical garden is open year round, with free admission in the winter and reasonable admission in the summer. With the welcome center, gift shop and café, you can spend the day in the butterfly garden or meditation garden, or have a picnic in a beautiful setting. Social gatherings and evening gatherings are also a great way to experience the garden.
