Boerner Botanical Garden (BBG) is part of the gold medal-winning Milwaukee County Park Service and is the oldest nationally recognized public garden in the Great Lakes region. The garden was built in the 1930s and was developed in collaboration with the Milwaukee County Park Service, the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Work Progress Administration (WPA). BBG is located in Witnar Park and is comprised of 40 acres of formal gardens and a botanical garden along Park Avenue.
Thousands of colorful plants add color to the season and give off colorful fragrances across 12 formal gardens. Stroll through the rose garden, the ruler’s medicine garden and the lily garden, stroll under the crab-eating monkeys in bloom, enjoy brunch at the bar and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The flowers can be seen in different gardens throughout the year. Some facilities are also suitable for wheelchair users.
