The garden is amasterwork of flower design, including picture-perfect brick sidewalks, secret gardens, reflective ponds, walled gardens, and hundreds of camels and azaleas.
In the lake room, you can swim, fish, canoe and kayak. Boats without petrol engines are permitted. There are gazebos and barbecues along the coast, ideal for picnics.
For hikers, there are two short nature paths that wind through the woods and overlook the lake. Walkers, cyclists and riders can explore the six miles of public paths and a designated 5-mile bike path that winds through the woods around Overstreet Lake in the park next to the garden.
The period of maximum flowering is from 1 January to 30 April and the period of maximum flowering is from mid-March to the end of March. During this time you can come to the gardens and historic McRae house for a special price.
Yearly specific occasions include a garden tour in May, a children’s fishing day in June, a scarecrow, the moon on Maclay-Jazz in the garden, and a Camellia Christmas in December. Other cruise occasions and programs take place all year.
